Dead Battery or Just Drained? We Come to You Fast

Axl Roadside provides mobile jump starts and battery testing in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto and nearby cities, 7am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Call or text (415) 712-4161 and we come to your location or service address.

A car that won’t start doesn’t always need a new battery. A good battery can go dead because of lights left on, a faulty alternator or an electrical problem, so a dead battery is not always a bad one.

That’s why we test before we replace. When we arrive, we inspect the battery first: how old it is, what condition it’s in, and whether there’s visible damage or wear. Then we jump the vehicle and watch how it responds. How it starts gives us clues about the battery and the vehicle’s electrical system.

If the car takes the jump and starts normally, the battery was likely just drained, and we’ll tell you if the way it behaved points to a charging or electrical problem. If it won’t start or the battery has failed, we can replace it on site. You get the answer before you spend money on parts.

Not sure if it’s a dead battery or just drained? Read Stevan’s guide: what we check on site.
